Why create a DVD Slide Show -Video Montage

DVD Slide Shows make an impact on the audience

Watching a Video Montage of your photos can be a touching and emotional experience. It can bring back memories that have been tucked away in the back of your mind. DVD Slideshows can also be entertaining, light-hearted, even funny. One thing is for sure, those who watch it won't forget it! They'll probably want one of their own.

Pictures Look Great on TV

It doesn't matter what size photo's you have at home, 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10. With photos on DVD you're limited only by the size of your television screen. You'll see greater detail in your photos. And unlike traditional photo albums, everybody in the room can enjoy family memories at the same time.

Digital Photographs will not degrade over time

When photographs are exposed to the elements, even when in photo albums, they have a tendency to degrade over time. Have you ever seen old photographs which have yellowed and become frail? Time ruins photos. Transforming your photos into digital format will preserve them forever. Plus, if you have a DVD drive in your computer you'll be able to view them on your PC as well. DVDs won't wear out like a VHS tape eventually will. 100 years from now your photos will look as good as they do today!

Relieve The Memories

The photographs you take record your life. When you look back you remember those times in the past. BUT, when you add the appropriate music in the background, and you have meaningful or witty captions on each photo, you become immersed in the memory. Suddenly you remember how the warm sand felt between your toes on that vacation, how much fun you had at your anniversary, and how you felt on your wedding day.

Save Storage Space

How many photo albums have you collected over the years that are taking up too much room on your shelf and are a pain to get out and enjoy? A DVD, in its case, is a 1/2 inch thick. Just take out your DVD Slide Show, pop it into the DVD player, and instantly you're immersed in your most cherished memories.

DVDs Are More Portable Than Traditional Albums

Have you ever lugged your photo albums to a family member or friends house? Those albums aren't light, in fact, they can be bulky and heavy. DVDs are much smaller and weigh ounces in comparison.

The Digital Age

We are living in a technology based world, and being able to participate in it has become mainstream. One of the results of transforming your photographic prints to DVD is that you will also receive your photos in the digital format known as a JPEG. (A disc containing a JPEG version of your scanned pictures is included with the purchase of any MCM DVD package.) This highly compatible format allows you to then use these photos in other digital applications. For example, you could e-mail your old photos to a freind.

How Long is the DVD Slideshow?

Typically our customers include about 50-100 photos in a Slide Show which equates to roughly 8-10 minutes. Some customers prefer shorter Slideshows and only use about 30-50 photos which equates to roughly 3-6 minutes. As you are deciding how many pictures to include, keep in mind that if the Slide Show is too long it might start to irritate the audience.

How many photos can be in the DVD slideshow?

Hundreds of photos can be put onto a DVD. Ultimately it is up to you how many pictures you would like to include. A typical wedding Slide Show viewed by guests at a wedding reception is less than 10 minutes ( approx. 50- 100 photos)

What types of photos can you work with?

We can work with photographic prints up to 8"x10" in size. Paper prints must be scanned into digital format before they can be used in the Slide Show. You can save money by scanning these photos yourself. However, MCM will scan your paper prints for $1 per photo.

What transitions between photos are used?

When it comes to more sentimental memories like weddings and anniversaries, the best transitions are when one photo fades into the next. We feel this is the most elegant transition and honestly, looks the best. However, special effect transitions can add a fun feel for memories like family vacations and parties. Ultimately, it is up to you how your Slide Show is put together. MCM is dedicated to helping you create a customized DVD Slide Show you will enjoy for years to come. There are countless types of transitions. You can see some of these displayed on our products page within the sample videos.

Can you include the dramatic Pan, Scan, & Zoom effect?

Yes! We highly recommend our Pan, Scan, & Zoom capabilities for your Slide Shows. The movement of the photo creates a highly dramatic effect.

What about music?

Absolutely! The music you include in the Slide Show is one of the most important aspects to consider. On our products page you will find a MUSICAL SUGGESTIONS link under each product description. If you are having a hard time deciding what music to include, this may be a good place to start getting inspired. If you already know what music you want to use, you can provide us with the music on CD or an mp3 file. MCM can also provide and include the music tracks you request or we can choose the music for you. If music content is not provided by the customer, MCM will purchase the tracks for you. The purchase of these music tracks is already included in the price of the package you choose.

Can short video clips be included in the slide show?

Yes, you can add one or several short video clips to the DVD Slide Show. Our Gold Edition DVD is perfect for this. Video formats accepted are MiniDV, VHS tapes, VHSC tapes, avi files, mpg files.

Can the slideshow be played on a computer/laptop?

NOTE: Our DVDs will play in virtually all newer DVD players. Some older DVD players may not accept this type of DVD. Check your DVD user manuel to be sure your player accepts DVD+R/RW or DVD-R/RW Discs. MCM uses high quality DVD+R discs. If your DVD player is compatible with DVD-R discs, please let us know and we will produce your video on this type of DVD.

How much time does MCM need to prepare the slideshow?
